Abraham Obeyed God
Abraham respected and obeyed God’s call.
Because Abraham obeyed God’s call, he left his father’s home. He traveled for many months. Finally he came to a new and strange country. This strange land is called Palestine today. Abraham lived in Palestine for a long time. In fact, he died in Palestine, far away from his father’s people.
God’s Promise to Abraham
God knew that Abraham had true faith. God was pleased with Abraham, because Abraham obeyed and trusted God. For this reason God promised to bless Abraham (Genesis 12:2).
2 I will give you many descendants, and they will become a great nation. I will bless you and make your name famous, so that you will be a blessing.
God promised that Abraham’s children would be many, like the stars of the heavens. He promised to give the land of Palestine to Abraham and to his children forever. He promised to bless all mankind through a son of Abraham.
